“Judy Hopps” iPad Painting

Can I say how much I loved Zootopia? It’s definitely one of my favorite animated movies, period. With some time off between commissions I put together some fan art of protagonist, Judy Hopps.

Similar to the Camaro illustrations I did earlier this year I wanted to take a single image and render it in multiple styles that showcase my range.

The first rendition was done in the style of a oil painting. After sketching the character I blocked in the fur using a “splatter” brush and fleshed out the rest of the features. Lastly I blended the paint using the blender tool to make it look similar to the movie.

The second rendition was done in a pop art style. Since I copied my sketch from earlier I was able to go back and ink it. On another layer I used flat colors to really make it stand out.

Finally the last rendition is a speed painting style done in rough oils. Judy is still recognizable but it’s more abstract and loose. All artwork created using Procreate on iPad Pro. Stylus used was the Apple Pencil.
