Pizza in Paris

After visiting Centre Pompidou I went into a bustling, nearby restaurant for a small pizza pie. The atmosphere felt right so I stayed to create a painting after I ate. A few of the waiters came over to talk to me and see what I was working on. I think my art in general helped me connect with the French.

The line work started with the 6B pencil for a sketch to get the shape of the pie right. Next the studio pen was used to ink the pizza on a separate layer. The colors were rendered using oil paint for the cheese and sauce while the crust was done with various charcoal tools. This international food series has been an excellent way to experiment with texture, color and atmosphere as well.
