Client Work: Arts for Labor

I’m excited to share my new collaboration with The International Festival of Arts & ideas! I was commissioned by them to illustrate essential workers. (including myself since my day job is as a paraprofessional for New Haven Public Schools.) I wanted to create these portraits in a vibrant pop art style and I overlaid a geometric illustration with colors inspired by the Arts & Ideas color palette. All art created using Procreate on iPad Pro. Here’s some more information about the project from the Arts & Ideas website…

The International Festival of Arts & Ideas (Arts & Ideas) and New Haven Symphony Orchestra (NHSO) celebrate the end of summer Festival-style with two days of programming honoring the workers who carried us through the pandemic.

Arts & Ideas Executive Director Shelley Quiala says, “We are excited to celebrate joy, imagination and reconnection as we enter into the 2021-2022 academic season.” She is particularly excited to uplift the workers who carried our communities through the pandemic. “Caring for the sick, teaching young people, and providing necessities did not stop during the pandemic. The work of feeding our communities did not stop and has not stopped. We are partnering with NHSO to take a moment to acknowledge and honor that labor, both over the last year and every year.”
