Feature: NFT NYC 2023

My digital painting of Solange (“Don’t Touch My Soul) will be featured as a part of the NFT NYC’s Times Square Roadblock. It will be seen on billboards at 1 Times Square, NYC between 8:30pm and 9:30pm on April 11th along with many other featured artists from the event. The painting will also be featured at The Artist’s Village at The Javitz Center and is up currently on their virtual gallery online.

This painting was a product of my experiences at The Louvre in Paris. Conceptually, I wanted to use renaissance iconography on a black figure. Song lyrics are illustrated onto the halo featured in the painting which is depicted as being flat to match paintings from the Renaissance time period. I first exhibited this painting at the “Seats at The Table” art show at Artspace New Haven that was hosted by my now wife, Rahisha Bivens. We both consider this piece of a art at the center of our relationship and it was also featured at our wedding reception (that was also at Artspace) in 2021.

Having this opportunity to exhibit the painting in a place that is widely known as the center of the world is a dream come true. I can’t think of a more fitting piece to display. It’s currently on sale now as a NFT and physical prints will be dropping next month in celebration of NFT NYC.
