Style by Ra: Tie Knots

Welcome to my blog! Here’s this week’s menswear tips.

One of the most important things about wearing a tie is the kind of knot you use. I generally use one of three knots when I wear a tie. The first is a Four in the Hand knot. This knot is basic but effective. It’s great for small to mid size collars is a quick way to look stylish.

The knot isn’t going to be even but that’s part of the charm. The second is the Half Windsor knot. This knot is more complicated but is even if done correctly. It’s common but makes a refined statement. Perfect for medium size collars.

Lastly I use a Full Windsor knot for any ties that are too long. This knot uses up a lot of length of the tie making it simple to keep the tie from dipping past your belt line. This knot is suited for a spread collar. I personally love this knot because it does not slip during the day. The Full Windsor is balanced and symmetrical.

For even more knots I found a website to help with that.
