iPad Pro (Day 1)

Today is the first part of my review of the iPad Pro 9.7 inch. This review will be over an extended period of time using all of the apps I use for my personal and professional work. I will be starting with Procreate first because it is the app I use the most. First let’s go over the technical aspects of the new iPad Pro.

Retina display with 2048-by-1536 resolution and True Tone display

A9X chip with 64-bit desktop class architecture

 Four speaker audio
12MP iSight camera with 4K video and True Tone flash

5MP FaceTime HD Camera with Retina Flash

Support for Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard

For all intents and purposes it’s very similar to my iPad Air aside from having a more capable interior. The big draw for me being an artist is how it performs with the Apple Pencil.

Pairing is a snap. You turn on Bluetooth, uncap the back of the pencil and plug it in to pair to the iPad Pro. That is also how you charge it. For Procreate I dived right in to continue working on a freelance assignment and mixed in a still life for Easter.

The Pencil is extremely responsive with virtually no lag. Resting my hand on the screen works like it’s supposed to. Much better than other styli I’ve used.

Lastly I began to experiment with the pressure sensitivity which works as advertised. Check back tomorrow for day 2 with the iPad Pro and Procreate.
