London: Colville Square

One day after I saw all of the tourist attractions I wanted to check out in London I decided to do something more low key. I got on the tube and randomly got off at Notting Hill. Since my first few days in London were primarily about getting used to the city and taking reference photos it made sense to prioritize “plein air painting.”

One of my stops on this beautiful Summer day was Colville Square. It’s a small park with some great views. I stopped and took advantage of the cloud-free London weather. I had just seen some of David Hockney’s work a few days earlier and his vibrant colors from California informed how this piece came out. I love having the time to illustrate outdoor work. It trains my eye and helps me appreciate my surroundings. Painting created using Procreate on the iPad Pro 9.7 inch.
