London: The West End

One part of London I was curious about was Piccadilly Circus. When I got there (via The London Underground) I felt like I was in familiar territory. The reason for that is Piccadilly Circus to me feels like a less cramped, more open version of Times Square. I generally avoid Times Square because it’s so congested. Piccadilly had a lot of restaurants, street performers,  plays and shops. It just didn’t feel claustrophobic like Times Square. For my painting I sat near The Statue of Eros

Using Procreate’s perspective tools I created a sense of depth to contrast the signage of The West End. Urban landscape painting continues to be what I gravitate to when I’m getting to know a new place. It’s even more effective for me than simply taking a photograph. Painting created in Procreate on iPad Pro.
