London: Window at St. Margaret’s Church

Westminster Abbey was where I went on my third day in London. I didn’t realize how majestic it would be until I walked there from the tube station near Hyde Park. It was very difficult to decide what to paint “live” because of all the beautiful architecture. I wanted to make a plein air painting of Big Ben but there were way too many people. It didn’t make sense to me to stand in a crowd of people with my expensive tablet.

Instead I decided to illustrate a detailed window of Saint Margaret’s Church because I was able to find an isolated spot. It was my intention to keep the painting loose but also detail oriented. London’s cloudy weather makes it slightly easier to paint outdoors too. Painting made using Procreate on iPad Pro.
