San Rafael
April 5, 2018One day in Cuba I was walking aimlessly until I found San Rafael. It was a bustling part of town near Parque Central. The streets were filled to the brim with tourists and locals alike. I sat across from La Floridita (which was frequented by Ernest Hemingway) to take a reference photo that would later become this painting.
I purposely left my iPad back in the United States for fear of Cuban officers confiscating my device. Thankfully I didn’t run into any problems but I figured why risk it? What I enjoyed most about this painting was being detailed yet minimal. For me it’s about capturing the essence of the scene and not every minute detail that goes along with it. Art created using Procreate on iPad Pro.
