The Mind of A Saint Illustrated
March 2, 2025The Mind of A Saint Illustrated is a limited edition art book created by myself and hip hop artist, Skyzoo. The title comes from the album of the same name (The Mind of A Saint) where Skyzoo raps from the perspective of Snowfall’s “Franklin Saint.” We talked at length about the album and I pitched him an idea on creating a visual companion for the album. I created an illustration for each track showing the entire story of Snowfall.
The style was inspired by Charles Schultz’s Peanuts. This was especially fitting because the main character was named after Franklin from The Peanuts. We sold the book for one week only on Lulu.com to great acclaim.
Here are some words from Skyzoo on the project.
“When Raheem and I spoke about his idea to take what I did, which was taking with Snowfall did, and turning it into an illustrated book of sorts, it made a ton of sense and was something that I was honored to have inspired and get behind. Raheem has been an excellent Illustrator and artist in his own right for as long as anyone can remember, and the inspiration that he drew from my lyrics came together in a way that I couldn’t have pictured any better in illustrated form.
Taking a classic, artistic style that we know and grew up on and turning it into a vehicle to display such a heinous period in time, such a heinous story depicted in the songs that I wrote, and giving them this balance of innocence but raw and unfiltered essence, was a task that many would not have been able to complete.
Proud is an understatement, as the book came out beyond anything I could’ve imagined, and I’m once again humbled and gracious to see it come together. Art is always in the eye of the beholder, with subjection being the one true sticking points in the definition of it. This book however may be an exception, as it’s something that any and everyone will be able to see the brilliance in.-Skyzoo (Hip Hop Artist & Contributor)”
